The Social Determinants of Health

Our health is determined by a wide variety of factors, including genetic, biological, psychological, social, cultural, and societal. In this course we dive into the social determinants of health. These include how the structure of our societies and communities impact our opportunity for health and wellbeing. We discuss how food, housing, employment, discriminnation, and other social statuses affect our mind and body.

This research is guided by a sociological perspective that examines the big picture, and how changes can create a future of widespread wellness.

This course is useful for those working in the health professions, education, social services, government, and business.
