Addiction & Society

Addiction is a multifactorial disease with genetic, biological, psychological, physiological, and environmental factors at play. But the prevalence of addiction and drug poisoning differs dramatically from society to society, both today and historically. What a society is going through, affects everyone in that society, and a society can breed addiction.

This course describes these aspects of a society that can contribute to a drug or alcohol crisis, and higher than typical population-level suffering from addiction issues.

We’ll also cover how a holistic approach can inform interventions that can make a dent on these crises, for individuals, communities, and our culture.
