Aging, Disability, & Social Isolation
For anyone working with older adults or people with disabilities, or has a personal connection to these issues and experiences—this presentation starts a discussion on how society is not set up for the diversity of our friends, family, and neighbors. Get an overview of trends in aging and disability in the United States, and the social and cultural factors that impact wellbeing of older adults and people with disabilities. This includes the role of stereotypes, and barriers to participation in everyday activities in our communities. This contributes to social isolation—one of the most critical determinants of wellbeing.
